They came for bloodshed

Make no mistake about what happened in Portland last weekend: Right-wing, pro-gun thugs – most of them from out of state – descended on the waterfront, threatening Oregonians, bragging about their guns, and worst of all, trying to provoke a fight, so they could use those guns.

This wasn't "just a protest." It was an exercise in intimidation and bullying. This gang showed up in body armor and bulletproof vests. They came hoping for bloodshed.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time they've shown uninvited, ready for violence, and it won't be the last. The gun lobby has spent millions of dollars on years of propaganda to convince folks that guns are the best solution to any problem. Their efforts have resulted in an epidemic of mass shootings and ever-growing numbers of lethal weapons plaguing our streets – and obscene profits for gun makers and their lobbyists.

We will not stand for this. We're building the movement to stand up to the extremist gun lobby and reverse the damage they've done. Their threats won't slow us down, and their cheap stunts don't scare us. We're not stopping until Oregonians are safe from gun violence.
